‘Circles’ is a collection of songs written by the band’s frontwoman Allison Wheeler over the last six years, some of which she brought to the band in 2022 when they formed, including the first single ‘gold’.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the EP, the band’s frontwoman Allison Wheeler says,
“The songs are all snapshots of things I’ve wrestled with since finishing university and through my time living here in the Czech Republic. I’ve hidden a lot of myself and my experiences in the lyrics and these songs specifically are quite vulnerable and introspective for me. But this band was able to pull me out of my head and lift the heaviness of it and we were able to create magic together out of what would have otherwise been just some sad-girl-with-a-guitar songs.We get to look forward to meeting and creating as if we were kids with a garage band again. It’s been really healing, and maybe the result of our collaboration could be healing for listeners too."

Tour Guide Blonde je kapela, kterou během covidové pandemie v roce 2022 založila americká
multižánrová zpěvačka Allison Wheeler. Ke spolupráci přizvala pianistku Ivu Korgerovou, kytaristu
Vladka Mikláše, baskytaristu Matěje Havlíčka a bubeníka Petra Nohavicu.
Allison Wheeler se na české scéně představila jako jazzová interpretka s úspěšným projektem Winterspring, nyní ale přichází
s autorskými písněmi, jejichž esencí je americana v kombinaci se sadcore grungem a dreampopem.
„Všechny písně jsou snímky výzev, se kterými jsem se snažila popasovat od doby, kdy jsem dokončila
univerzitu, a během svého pobytu tady v České republice. Do textů jsem vtiskla hodně ze sebe a svých
zážitků a jsou pro mě velmi zranitelné a introspektivní. Tato kapela mě dokázala vytáhnout z mé hlavy
a nějak zmenšit tu tíhu. Vytvořili jsme spolu magii z něčeho, co by jinak byly jen smutné písně holky
s kytarou. Těšíme se na společná setkání a tvorbu, jako bychom byli teenageři s garážovou kapelou.
Celý proces byl opravdu léčivý a možná by výsledek naší spolupráce mohl být léčivý i pro posluchače,“
popisuje Wheeler.
Tour Guide Blonde si posluchače podmaní díky skvělým poetickým textům, ale i zpěvným melodiím
a neotřelým hudebním nápadům celé kapely. Hudba je výjimečná také díky tomu, že je většina členů
kapely součástí české jazzové scény. Zkušenost z jazzu a technická obratnost se promítá i do skladeb,
které se objeví na chystaném EP.
„Formace vznikla jako projekt několika kamarádů, aby vdechla život dosud nenahraným písním Allison
Wheeler. Členové měli silné komunitní pouto. Pojila je léta přátelství na scéně a několik společných
projektů, ve kterých působili již od mládí. Pravidelným scházením vzdali hold dobám „garážových
zkoušek“ - věnovali celý rok kreativnímu procesu a jistému úniku od skutečného života
a dalších hudebních angažmá. Výsledkem je zvukově bohatý set evokativních skladeb.“

Tour Guide Blonde (Prague, Czech Republic) is a captivating new presence on the indie alternative scene, blending Americana with sadcore grunge and sparkly synths. Citing a wide range of influence from artists like Haim, Paramore, Thundercat, and even Blink-182, their music is emotionally driven by strong melodies and angsty power chords mashed up with rich soundscapes and creativity with meter.
The band itself was pieced together in 2022 as a ‘just for the hell of it’ project to put some life into frontwoman Allison Wheeler’s unrecorded songs. But the members already had a strong bond, boasting years of friendship on the scene and a few of them playing together since their teens.
Individually they boast success in different parts of the Czech and Slovak scene — Vladko Mikláš as guitarist for Bert & Friends, Katarzia and Sisa Feher (Bardo), Petr Nohavica with his short list Anděl nomination for debut Glance, Iva Korgerova with Pitch Bender, Matej Havlíček as bassist for artists like Jana Kirschner and Allison Wheeler with her debut release-jazz project Winterspring. — But they’ve now come together to form something of a super group, forging ahead with their own unique soundscape informed by their diverse backgrounds.
Their debut EP, Circles, released in September 2024, offers an emotional kick in the pants, tinged with nostalgia and irony. Each track offers insight into bittersweet complexities of emotional ties and inner turmoil — but with a light-hearted twist.
